Reus is Antoni Gaudí’s home town, the place where the world-famous architect grew up and went to school before leaving for Barcelona. Some of his closest colleagues and assistants also came from the same town, including the architects Joan Rubió i Bellver, Domènec Sugranyes and Francesc Berenguer, as well as some of his future clients.
Today the town of Reus preserves the memory of the places frequented by the young Gaudí during the sixteen years he lived there, as well as the scenes of his meetings with friends and colleagues during his subsequent stays.
The house where he was born on the Carrer de Sant Vicenç, the priory church of St. Peter where he was christened, the school he attended (now the Salvador Vilaseca secondary school), the sanctuary church of Misericòrdia and others…
All in all, the streets, squares and landscapes of a town which shaped the formation of his great creative genius, one in which it is still possible to follow in the footsteps of the genius.
